RISE To The Occasion

At Beaumont Manor, we're delighted to welcome RISE to our care home. For a number of activities to help our residents stay active and healthy.

RISE has developed a number of seated sports and quizzes which can be enjoyed by residents. Some of the sports that have been adapted are football, Rugby, Tennis, Netball and Hockey. The hour-long sessions are a blend of music, reminiscence and sports, with quiz rounds added throughout.

RISE has taken the home by storm.  This is a sport-based competitive activity for groups, where the winners receive a trophy and compete with each other.  It's very loud and energetic and the home is filled with so much laughter. RISE comes to Beaumont Manor every week and on alternate weeks they provide 1:1 support to residents who may not be able to join a group setting for health reasons, for example, nursed in bed. The RISE facilitators help individual residents enjoy sports at their level.

All the activities are adapted to suit the needs of all participants – including those who are nursed in bed.

The programmes keep our residents bodies and minds active whilst enabling people to reminisce, compete, socialise and, of course, have fun.

RISE's CEO is very proactive in giving back to the community in and around Essex and they have already seen first-hand the impact that sports-based activities can have on people of all abilities.

Working within the Care Quality Commissions framework allows care homes to evidence the impact this has.  In the short time, RISE has been coming to the home we have seen an improvement in the sleeping patterns of our residents, it has increased some individual's self-confidence and it has motivated them to try other activities that are on offer.

We have organised this as we've done some research into the positive effects of bringing more physical activity into a care home, especially within the winter months.

Residents at Beaumont Manor have had a great time participating in our different events so far, and we're excited to see what RISE has in store for them over the next few weeks. To see how we can support your loved ones with a varied activities programme, contact our expert team!
