Residents Enjoy a Day Out by the Seaside as Spring Approaches
As the first signs of spring begin to bloom, our residents recently enjoyed a wonderful trip to the seaside, just a short 10-minute drive from the care home in Frinton on Sea. With the sun peeking through the clouds and the crisp sea air, it was the perfect way to embrace the changing season and take in the beauty of the coast.
This outing was particularly special for two of our residents, Carol and Pat, as it marked their first visit of the year to the pier. From the moment they arrived, the pair were captivated by the relaxing waves and the gentle hum of seaside life. We strolled along the pier, taking in the views and reminiscing about past visits to the beach. Pat, in particular, found the outing a breath of fresh air—both literally and figuratively—and was already talking about planning their next seaside adventure before the day had even ended.
Although the café at the pier was closed, we still had a brilliant time. Carol quickly came up with a solution, that next time they would bring their flasks of tea and get the kitchen team to make a picnic for them to enjoy by the shore—though she made sure to add that the seagulls wouldn’t be getting any of their snacks! Each resident shared stories of when they used to visit the beach when they were younger, and it was interesting for us to hear about the different beach day traditions.
The outing was a heartwarming reminder of how the simplest pleasures can bring so much joy and enrichment. Moments like these are incredibly important as they allow residents to reconnect with nature, reminisce about fond memories, and simply enjoy a change of scenery. The happiness on Carol and Pat’s faces said it all; they truly embraced every moment of their seaside visit.
Looking ahead, we are excited to make these outings a more regular part of life at Beaumont Manor. With spring now in full swing and summer just around the corner, there will be plenty of opportunities for residents to enjoy the great outdoors, whether it’s another trip to the beach, a picnic in the park, or a leisurely garden stroll.
