Masks No More
Since the 17th of March 2020, staff at Beaumont Manor has had to wear face masks. Today was the first day that staff was finally mask-free.
We felt that it was only right to celebrate the first day of wearing no masks in almost 3 years.
After a month of consulting with our residents, relatives, and staff we all agreed to remove our masks. After so long this has been a slow and consultative phase with all concerned.
Our first day was Amazing! The atmosphere was electric with our residents seeing our staff smiling and residents laughing and joking about how we looked and how magical our smiles were as some have never seen us without a mask.
Some of us the residents thought we were younger which was interesting. We had to be honest and reveal our real age! A big thank you to all our staff who have been so patient waiting for this day to come.
The difference in how we all communicate is evident in how our body language and facial expressions lead to more meaningful communication with all our residents.
Removing our masks has been hard, all of us have been so used to wearing one for so long. The home continues to provide support to any member of staff, residents or their families who feel they still want to wear a mask and their views and concerns will be listened to and respected.
